The feminine form of “poet”
By Luce Guilbaud
English
Novels and essays do not necessarily reveal the gender of their author, whereas poetry reveals an individual body which is written (inscribed) on the basis of constructions from the mother tongue, even if the poem is written in a second language. It is through poetry that women best express their feminine identity, once it is finally conquered. Since the mid-20th century, poetry-writing has powerfully conveyed women’s freedom, singularity, and creativity. Yet the act of writing remains a transgression for women.
