The sense of hearing is our most orchaic, and structures the intimate mother-infant bond and the child’s psychic organization. The adult in distress is anxious to har the missing words which will unlock the door, and give him access to the secrets he has deep inside. Insight into this sub-ject can be gained from authors D. Anzieu and Bion; however, Jung and his reflections on the self and the voice as an expression of the self are at the source of this author’s thinking and clinical experience.
