The uncertain identity

Identity is never defined once and for all. It is a process of becoming which takes root in the first love relationship between an object and subject. It is rooted in imitation and related to the phenomenon of the double. The Ulysses character represents the fluidity of identity and its cunning, in taking the name Nobody. In The Psychology of the Transference, Jung highlights the mechanisms of transformation leading to the fulfillment of the self and destiny.
