Arythmies

To bring a rhythm to life, a certain degree of arrhythmia is necessary. Massive or defensive arrhythmia results in an immobilizing chaos or abyss. The beat originates at the point between engulfment in sheer chaos and the establishment of an order. When syncopated, arrhythmia animates and breaks up continuity. Arrhythmia reveals the temporality of the discontinuity of the instant, providing an opening. Experienced by the artist (Cézanne, Webern), it is also noticeable in any analytical journey, the rhythmical singularity of which induces the analyst to pay particular attention to pace.
