La Sapienza

By Eugène Green, Mathieu François du Bertrand
English

Eugène Green (born in 1947), filmmaker and writer, has built up a polymorphic and highly original body of work, confronting reflections on art, the birth of speech, and how the outburst of the word shatters silence. Rather than being themes of Green’s works, these elements drive the artist’s intention to make the image one of man’s highest truths. In the films, Green proceeds by paying careful attention to elocution and music, and the characters’ struggle with beauty. His most well-known films are Le Pont des Arts (2004) and La Religieuse portugaise (2009). In the fall of 2014, the public will have an opportunity to see his latest film, La Sapienza.
