Through elements from the analytic journey of two mistreated children, the question arises of how certain patients use the setting as an object-tool and not only as a container for psychic work in transference. A reflection opens on the link between the possible perversion of the primary need for empathy and the possible therapeutic value of this setting previous to work inside the setting.
