Spirituality and addiction

Addiction and spirituality are presented from a neuroscientific perspective. They are seen to be in an inverse relationship. Both attempt to respond to the fundamental anxiety of the human being. One, addiction, is in a paradigm of having and taking, in self-destruction. The other, spirituality, is in a paradigm of being and giving, in resilience. Addiction is therefore presented as a pathology of the bond and meaning in our crisis of civilization.
