The Shape of Water: A film by Guillermo Del Toro

The Shape of Water is a film that can be viewed through a Jungian lens as an upside-down fantasy story. The awakening to awareness occurs in the unconscious world. The handsome prince is an amphibious beast. Instead of enabling the heroine to become queen, he provides her with access to the experience of the sacred in the world of the depths. This approach leads us to wonder whether the filmmaker is saying that salvation lies in escape.
