The lake’s on fire, a symbolic reading of Dora’s dream
By Yann Lauté
English
Beyond classical psycho-analytical interpretations, a jungian reading of Dora’s case is possible, especially supported by the dreams that are to the fore. It allows to put on the light the individuation process, operating inside this teenager, becoming a young adult, at some critical time of her woman’s life. The main archetypes (animus, shadow and self) are a useful compass for the psycho-analyst, whose work is to determine what could be integrated by the ego from the uncounscious expressing itself by individual or collective symbols in dreams or synchronicities, so as to achieve to a greater hamonization in psyche and in life.
