The phenomenon of dissociation and the dissociability of the psyche are primordial to Jung’s conception of the unconscious. It is the properties of mobilization and change of the conscious/unconscious system that make a cure possible. Clinical case studies, distinguished by especially dramatic histories, show the compensatory dynamic at work. This occurs through the triggering of a symbolization process which is based on archetypal representation abilities and a specific use of transference during the session which is related to a grafting process with a hitherto unexplored relational experience.
