A very specific clinical case, since it involves a man suffering from an incurable disease who has reached the end of his life, illustrates the operational aspect of the concept of dissociation according to Jung. Clinical hypotheses are offered. They cannot be applied to other structures, unless for the pupose of observing that after relatively long-term analytical work, where the transference and counter-transference are sorely tried, the dissociated parts that had been split off are gradually integrated, bringing the subject greater energy and creativity, and broadening his field of consciousness.
