Symbolic Games and Transferential Space

Symbolic play is considered to be the primitive expression of the transcendent function. The study of its dynamics and manifestations at various levels within the transferential relationship demonstrates the special role of the child therapist. Based on work with two six-year-old boys, a two-way evolution of the transferential process is pointed out : one goes from more personal contents to archetypal ones, and the other in the opposite direction.
