By Andrée-Léa Hauteville
English
On the basis of Jung’s suggestion that “the image of the hermaphrodite is not encountered as a goal, but as a symbol of the initial phase”, as well as the viewpoint developed by Erich Neumann in The Child, the author uses analyses of women to explain the trials and tribulations experienced by androgynous personalities in the differentiation process which leads to the acquisition of a sexual identity.
