Filmmaker Marco Bellochio, in an article as well as an interview given to Mario Serenellini, reflects upon the relationship between the unconscious and cinematographic language as applied to his latest film, The butterfly’s dream (translation of french title as the film has not been released in the US), which features a young man who, at the age of fourteen, decides to give up verbal language. Bellochio describes the relationship between his work as an artist and his personal development, thirty years after his first film, Fists in his pockets.
