The analytical setting is considered here in relation to Jungian specificity and the clinical practice where it figures. The mythical scene of the confrontation between Oedipus and the sphinx is adopted as a metaphor for this approach, an opportunity to examine the role played by the setting, as well as the dynamic of its function.
