The Desire for the Other Tested by the Self

Based on a proposition by Jung concerning the relationship of otherness to the individuation process, the author suggests the outlines of a desire which would motivate the pursuit of that process, examining factors which would foster, or, on the contrary, counteract this pursuit, with particular attention to the vicissitudes of family relationships which accompany the welling-up of such a desire. Moreover, the tale of a dream dramatizes various actors in these relational games and the way in which they reveal the existence of the desire.
