Solidarity and Exile

The exile discussed here is the one we face as a result of our clinical working conditions and our relationships with Christian tradition and with Freudian orthodoxy. Moreover, it especially involves the intimate: in transference, and via the relationships between the ego and the self and the self and the ego. Various responses to this exile are discussed: «mystical participation», the «communal unconscious», synchronicity, the dream of participating in a community of initiates, in a shared myth, a single conception of the world. Lastly, Jung’s religere leads us to wonder about the demands and limits of our individuation process.
