The death of Diana, Princess of Wales, activated an archetype of the Eternal Feminine, giving rise to demonstrations of collective emotion strongly tinged with hysteria. The meaning of this event, whereby the feminine emerged in a world structured by the masculine, was reinforced by two events which took place within one week before and after Diana’s death: the Roman Catholic World Youth Days and the death of Mother Teresa.
