“Once upon a Time...”

Based on a clinical example, the author describes the oneiric themes often encountered in the course of a woman’s confrontation with the shadow, in conjunction with the life experience of being part of a heterosexual couple. It would seem that the maternal shadow inhibits both personal evolution and the evolution of the couple. An encounter with the “other” cannot come about until work on the animus has been accomplished in transference.
