Should we interpret dreams?

The author questions the concept of the dream as « wish fulfillment » which is the thesis of Freud’s Interpretation of Dreams. She maintains that aside from offering an interpretation of the repressed, the dream is also – and primarily – an experiment, a gateway to the world of images, some of which are archetypal. These images cannot be reduced to known phenomena ; they compel a transformation of the consciousness.
