Speaking from the doctor
By Bernadette Vandenbroucke
English
The author, a physician and psychoanalyst, first discusses the request for treatment within the framework of a demand for health and well-being which is likely to distort the request of the patient. He goes on to consider his duty to care for suffering by non-judgmental listening, which led to a commitment of his whole being in the therapeutic field. The doctoral function operates on two levels : that of identification mechanisms, and with reference to the archetypal dynamic.
