A Jungian interpretation of love. Beauty and the Beast
By Chiara Navarra, Mireille Couchat-Baudouy
English
This interpretation suggests that we read the famous tale as a series of tableaus illustrating the feminine individuation journey. Love appears as an active, driving force, the motor of the process. Based on a Jungian conceptualization which places the idea of conjunction, an essential dynamis, at the center of the encounter with the self and the other, as well as in the heart of the analytic athanor, the author nevertheless resituates love in its immense mystery.
