Certain people have had to rely on archetypal schemas to structure a fragile identity and find a place in society. Mystical and magical belief has taken on meaning as an essential support system or even a lifeline, serving to make up for parental failures and severe deficiencies of parental affection. This article bears witness to a transference with a patient experienced in the numinosum, driven by numinous projections. It encourages us, as psychoanalysts, to examine the stance we must adopt in order to avoid the pitfalls of a transference relationship characterized by domination and highly charged with emotion. Instead, we should gradually work towards a humanized, person-to-person transference relationship.
